The Unstable Personality.
(Name Callers, Abusive Ad Hominum types). They push whatever they're pushing, or genuinely join in on conversation. They might seem rational at first, and perhaps just a tad emotional. But then whenever they perceive the slightest threat to whatever their position is, or whatever they're up to - they quickly degenerate into childish name-calling or juvenile insulting false accusations of the most ridiculous caliber. Such as "You pathetic whore, you say that because you can't get laid and you don't have a job." Etc. etc.

These people are not always consistently persistent trolls, but I suspect they make up a good portion of trolls/sock-puppeteers & the like.

What's worst about them is that sometimes they can seem rather normal most of the time, and the first few incidents are often excused by the community as "an outburst during a tough time". But then when the major meltdown comes, and they manage to tick off the site owner or moderators, people start wondering if they were ever sincere participants in the discussion.

My personal, non-professional, suspicion is that these people suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder. Which is, of course, very sad.
