What Rosie O’Donnell Says Is Not Newsworthy
Dec 22nd, 2006 by Jeremy
What is it lately about about Rosie making the news so much. Who is she that whatever she seems to comment on recent situation gets deemed headline news? I have to admit, I have been checking CNN.com again lately, despite my previous rants. Perhaps it is because they seem to be such good fodder for new rants.
I don’t like Rosie, never have, and like her even less each time I see she has been quoted yet again because of her heavy duty left wing opinion. She is back again, feuding with Donald Trump over the whole Miss USA “scandal.” First, I don’t really care at all about Trump’s decision to keep the current Miss USA with her tiara, but I care even less that Rosie is upset about it.
I always wonder what she has that keeps her going in the media. Her landing a spot of The View has given her a big new platform to stir up controversy. She bathes in it, which is some imagery I purposely through out there to disgust you. She really does need to pay her PR firm a big fat bonus this Christmas though, ’cause they have been working overtime for her. Either that, or she has a friend at CNN that likes to get her noticed.
Rosie joins The View, big news. Departing View members don’t want her there, newsworthy. Rosie comments on Danny DeVito’s drunken visit, yep news. Rosie pops her top off for a movie scene even though the fans won’t see it, yuck, in the news. Rosie’s views on Bush because she is a lesbian, somehow a big deal in the news. Rosie and Barbra Walters are feuding, now its over…rumors have it Rosie might be leaving The View, she announces she is not…Rosie said mocked the Chinese, she apologizes…are you getting the general idea here? This is just ridiculous. Rosie rivals the number of headlines lately of the war in Iraq. By the way, she’s against it.
Perhaps the general public does actually care about what Rosie thinks. Ratings are up on The View since she is on, I think anyway - that is what the news reports. I shudder to think the state of our society if we are being lead by this now morning personality. She’s nothing more than a comedian turned diva out of her own effort to be one. Before she even had decent media presence she was a pain to work with behind the scenes - which I hear not only from the news but from credible sources, believe it or not.
Maybe I’m just jealous. Yeah, you can believe that if you want. I’ll tell you what it really is. I can’t stand self-centered, over hyped and particularly left-winger media darlings. Rosie lives by making controversy. She is the essence of it by who she is and who she has created herself to be. Right down the whole lesbian thing (big surprise), which she milks at every chance. I think she’s a fake on so many levels, but she has worked up this image and is making enormous cash doing it. She is the alter-ego to Hollywood beauty couples that everyone can’t get enough of, therefore she is tabloid material for that end of the spectrum.
There, I’ve said it. That wasn’t so hard. I hope that I am not alone in my opinion, otherwise I might just have to move to Montana, give up on society stay in the high country, living off the land.

Rosie isn’t newsworthy and neither is Donald Trump. The both of them are like a couple of cartoon characters, for crying out loud! It’s ridiculous. Tttthhhhhhhtttthhhhhhaaat’s all folks!
Barbara Walters said that Rosie and Donald are both “high spirited”. :( So am I — anybody see me on the news?
I welcome all sorts of people and different ideas and view points into my life.
You said it, Rosie is a comedian - and I enjoy her - she makes me laugh. I didn’t used to watch The View very often, but I do see it more now. I enjoy Joy on the View so much more now that Rosie has joined and Elizabeth too.
I don’t care if someone is gay, straight, *******, republican, democrat, independent, Catholic, Mormon, Buddhist, or whatever. Differences are what make life so interesting.
We all have the power to turn off the tube, stop reading a newspaper article, surf to the next web page, etc. Life is too short to let someone irritate you so much.
Chill. Find something you enjoy and focus on that.
By the way, Living off the land isn’t so bad. Thoreau did it, and wrote a pretty good book aboutit.
Winona - just a quick reminder that everything I say on this site should be taken with a grain or perhaps a whole shaker of salt; it is intended to take small things and blow them out of proportion. I do like your fire in your response though! :) What bothers me about Rosie is not who or what she is, it is the fact that she is getting so much news coverage over anything she says and does. I just don’t get it. How has she become a figure that invites such quick to the press results whenever she has a comment on current events?
As for back woods living, I have done my fair share of it and love it. I have to admit I have yet to read Thoreau. One of these days, but I keep picking up those brainless murder mysteries instead.
Jeremy - I don’t get it either. However, the news media will give us what we will read, and thus, that is how people make the news.
Take Britney Spears - All she has to do is forget to wear panties and she is all over the news, or at least her picture is everywhere. But then again, Britney isn’t speaking out like Rosie, just going out in public.
:)

That is my meager applause! Totally agree!
Rosie is a car wreak…people slow down…stop…crane their neck to see what it’s all about…thus the higher View ratings. I admit I was never a View watcher…found the “Hen Fest” not my cup of java….did (and still do) enjoy Joy’s quick wit…but now Rosie steamrolls Joy a bit. Rosie has an agenda…she feels her life is worth as much as anyone else’s life…be it straight or not….and really that is her right to talk about her home life…after all we have heard all about Elizabeth’s hubby more than enough….
Rosie does seem to have a chip on her shoulder a bit more than when she was The Queen of Nice on her show (and made that sweet singer put on the Puppy suit):) But she might have had just about enough of the other crap on TV/in the media and wants to say her part…and Barbs as long as the ratings are up will let her.
I was admitting something and got sidetracked…here it is…I do now and again tune in to just see/hear what Rosie has to rant about…put her 2 cents in about…it is a hoot! And it is fun to see Elizabeth squirm and Barbara’s eye pop! LOL! But the ratings are up….the network is happy…so Rosie will keep on keeping on I am sure….
Certain things are in right now…Rosie is “in”….if you don’t like her…tune out I say…and some days the woods look inviting! ;)
I don’t know if I’d say Rosie is “in” but I would certainly say The Donald is “out”. Have you noticed Rosie hasn’t been on this week and Barbara Walters made comments about The Donald after ABC asked her to smooth things over.
Now The Donald is calling Rosie “fat and ugly.” I say look in the mirror Don, and do something about that comb-over.
Rosie is still in the news - and Donald is going on the offensive now. Why do I watch that stuff?
