AOL Restarting After Updates
Nov 6th, 2006 by Peter
OK today I went to shut down aol… before I continue, here is a quick question. If I am shutting down AOL, what does that normally mean? That I am done with my session correct? Right! Well according to AOL it means I am not… let me explain.
I signed off and clicked the “X” and a little box popped up…. “…please wait while AOL adds important software updates.” OK my first thought is, why didn’t they do this an hour ago while I was still signed on? This makes no sense… but anyway, I sucked it up and sat there for the grueling 2 minutes (even though it said less than a minute!) and sighed and said “…I think I can, I think I can”
Finally the update was complete and the software shut down… phew all over! Now I can get on with my life right? WRONG! What happens next? The software restarts!!!! WHY?? Is AOL afraid I won’t ever use the software again? Or, maybe AOL feels that I need the “instant gratification” of closing the software a second time WITHOUT a “please wait” upgrade message?
I just don’t get it.
