Actors “Coming out of the closet” is news?
Nov 4th, 2006 by Jeremy
Since when did an actor, or actress for that matter, become news. It has become so commonplace in Hollywood for actors that I didn’t realize it was a big deal. Since this site is all about opinions, and I already revealed myself to be a conservative, I think it is a bunch of bunk anyway. I also made note that I couldn’t stand CNN.com lately, but I broke down to see what their latest headlines were. I should have never done it.
This merits a headline? Top stories? I thought this was reserved for things that were actually of some import to most of your readers.
Doogie, what is your deal? Of course, typically after someone “outs” themselves, we all sit back and say, yeah, I guess I could have seen that one coming if I cared to think about it. Lance Bass recently was a laugher of course…uh, yeah, we knew. George on Grey’s Anatomy felt inclined to bring it up it seems because of comments on the set.
You know what, most of us in the world a) don’t care, and b) really don’t want to know because now your character’s you play seem that much less believable. Just keep it to yourself and we will all be happier. Oh, and CNN, work a little harder to find some real news.

Jeremy… immediately I am thinking about the actor on “Gray’s Anatomy” who plays George. I guess he came out of the closet. In the show he is in love with a girl (her last name is gray) and now my wife says (like what you said) that it’s hard to really like the “…I love her” bit… what you said made total sense.
First let me say, that I am NOT a conservative, so you probably won’t be interested in my opinion, as most conservatives that I’ve come into contact with only view their own opinion as the one with any validity. If that doesn’t describe you, then may I then apologize for that last comment and move on.
It seems to me that the reason Neil Patrick Harris sexual preferences made the news was, in fact, because he released the information himself. If the ragmags had made the “discovery”, it would have been all over the tabloids and then straight to Fox News, which in my opinion in just an extension of said mags.
I honestly don’t care or judge other people regarding their sexual preferences, which I personally believe are choices, because I’m not God, and it’s none of my business. JMHO
Actually my comment had very little to do CNN being liberal or not, (at least on this rant) :) I just think that people’s sexual preference isn’t news, much less top stories headline fodder. As for Fox News quality, I think I gave fair lashings to them as well being too far the other direction.
Can’t leave the lash on conservatives alone though! Any over generalization is just too much fun to leave alone. Conservatives only being interested in their own opinion? I think that is typical of most opinionated people in general, not just conservatives. Can’t keep that finger pointed in just one direction.
I think that is the funny thing about most people who think “debate” means getting the opportunity to tell people they are wrong. Debate is offering up facts that support for opposing viewpoints and applying logic to find a resolution. Debate really doesn’t work on opinions, because opinions don’t necessarily have to be based on facts. Anyone can have an opinion and be happy with it whether they are right or wrong in other peoples’ view. :)
I just don’t understand why a person’s sexual orientation is newsworthy myself. Why does something like that make the news when there are so many more important issues to report on? I guess it is of interest to some and that’s why it makes the news, but I personally couldn’t care who is gay, bisexual or heterosexual–unless you’re talking about my own husband. If something were to change there, I’d want to know about it. :)
