Biased Reporting in the News
Nov 2nd, 2006 by Jeremy
Whatever happened to objective, credible reporting? Ok, for the most part it has likely never really existed. But that doesn’t stop me from getting peeved by “articles” that could just have easily been written as a marketing department release by as by a so called reporter.
To answer the question up front, I am a conservative, so of course I am most irked by the blatant liberal slant to 90% of the news published these days. As conservatives go I like to think my self as leaning to the moderate side level and definitely don’t just follow a party line. I vote based on my research and personal views. I love our freedoms to have our own viewpoint, and welcome debate on most any subject. That said, news should be news, not published with an agenda to manipulate an outcome.
More than anything I hate extremes in any direction. Recently I quit reading CNN.com because their political agenda is so apparent I simply couldn’t stand it any longer. I had often heard Democrats complaining of the Republican agenda on FoxNews, so I thought I would head on over to foxnews.com to see if things were more in line to what I prefer. I lasted all of three days, and that was pushing it. Having an agenda is an understatement when applied to Fox, but I also understand their plight to some degree as they are the obvious minority in the news circuit. Lately I am sticking to local news, reading all three of the popular rags in our area so I feel like I am catching the bias on each side and hopefully falling somewhere in the middle.
Conflict sells, I get it. That is why we are inundated with so-called reality shows that spend 10% of their time on the actual theme and the rest of it brewing up arguments and problems between participants. Please leave the opinions and agendas to the opinion columns though, not the headlines.

Jeremy, I can identify with you on this one. There’s one reportr on CNN I won’t watch at all now. I’ve actually said I hate him. Isn’t that the worst? Goodness, I shouldn’t hate a reporter! I just stopped watching. There are only two people on CNN I’ll watch, and one is not even a journalist and the other is a former prosecutor. So, have you guessed my politics yet? LOL! :)

Reading a lot of different blogs these days, saw this entry that shared the same sentiment.

I seldom watch t.v. news anymore. I passionately believe in my political party and most of the media is usually backing the other, and they don’t make any bones about it.
